History

The Gothenburg Horse Show was held for the first time in 1977, and since then over 3 million people have visited the event at Scandinavium in Gothenburg. The very first World Cup Final in showjumping was held in 1979, and subsequently became a recurring event.

Ever since the event was created in 1977, the Gothenburg Horse Show has attracted the world's best horses and riders in showjumping and, more recently, dressage. Ahead of the 2019 World Cup finals in both showjumping and dressage, the GHS Hall of Fame was created to pay tribute to those who have had a significant impact on the event.

The purpose of the Gothenburg Horse Show scholarship is to provide more young riders with opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and add skills in areas that are crucial for continued development.

The scholarship is intended to encourage learning more about the fundamentals of riding, the importance of the rider’s physical and mental abilities, as well as the horse’s welfare and training physiology.
