ATG Riders League

This highly successful show jumping series returns, with its fast-paced heats and big prize money! At last year’s final, Niklas Arvidsson won the SEK 320,000 prize.

The winner of this year’s ATG Riders League will be determined via six heats followed by a grand final at Gothenburg Horse Show in week 8 of 2023.

“We’re excited about a new season of the ATG Riders League,” says Maria Guggenberger, Head of Sustainability & CSR at ATG. “The series is popular with both young entrants and more established riders, and we look forward to excellent participation and fantastic competitions.”

Quick heats

The structure of the competitions differs from regular classes, being decided by a number of heats at two different heights: 1.35 m and 1.50 m. The audience can enjoy fast-paced riding as the top riders battle it out to win the heats, which always take place on a Saturday. The team with the fewest errors and the fastest times moves on to the finals on Saturday evening, where there is big prize money to be won.

During the season, the riders accumulate points in the various semi-finals, with the top competitors progressing all the way through to the grand final during Gothenburg Horse Show.

“Giving more riders the chance to compete in an arena like Scandinavium is extremely valuable,” says Henrik Ankarcrona, team captain of the Swedish national show jumping team. “The opportunity to be among world stars in such an environment is hugely significant.”

Big prize money

The prize money awarded at last year’s final was the highest sum ever awarded at a national show jumping competition, totalling SEK 590,000.

Henrik believes that this prize money is of great importance when it comes to encouraging the best Swedish riders to stay and compete at home.

“For many years, a large number of Swedish riders have chosen to compete abroad. The time has now come to strengthen the sport at national level.”
