ATG Riders League

The prize money will be doubled and an international starting place is at stake when the ATG Riders League showjumping series, for the first time, gets a big final round at the Gothenburg Horse Show.
– This is great news for the riders and for Swedish showjumping. I am very happy that we were able to make this arrangement, says Henrik Ankarcrona, Chef d’Equipe for Team Sweden.

When this autumn's competition calendar was redrawn in the wake of the pandemic, an intense search began for new venues for the showjumping series ATG Riders League, which the public can bet on. Now it is clear that the fifth and final competition will take place in Borås in week 11 – and that a major final round will be held for the first time.
The final will be held during the Gothenburg Horse Show on March 31-April 4, where the best combinations at the 1.50 and 1.35 levels, respectively, will compete in thrilling, bettable classes with double the prize money at stake. In addition, the team that wins the ATG Riders League Grand Prix tour in the 1.50 class will move into the international stable and be given the opportunity to continue to compete over the weekend.

– It is incredibly important and stimulating for Swedish showjumping to have a Grand Prix series at such a high level. The fact that we can also give another rider the chance to compete internationally at the Gothenburg Horse Show is very valuable, says Henrik Ankarcrona.
The final is open to the 20 best horses and riders in the Grand Prix tour and the 24 best horses and riders in the 1.35 tour after the qualifying competitions. As in the qualifying rounds, the final will be ridden in bettable heats, with a winning round at each level. The prize money will be doubled and amounts to almost half a million krona in the final.

An important aspect of the ATG Riders League is that the competition is the pinnacle of the competition season for many of the riders who ride and compete in Sweden.
– To be allowed to compete during the Gothenburg Horse Show is rare. Therefore, it feels like a great option and a lot of fun to hold our finals here, says Maria Guggenberger, ATG.
ATG, a long-standing partner of Svenska Ridsportförbundet and a partner of the Gothenburg Horse Show since the event was first established, is satisfied with the arrangement. As is GHS competition leader Tomas Torgersen.
– We were the first in Sweden to offer betting on showjumping in collaboration with ATG 2018, and this spring we gave the public an opportunity to bet with the betting brand V5, which was very popular. So it’s great that, this spring, we can bring the final of the ATG Riders League into our fold. That we can also give the riders an extra boost in a year like this, by allowing the winning team in the 1.50 final to continue to compete all weekend, is definitely a fantastic bonus, says Tomas Torgersen.
