Lövsta Future Challenge

The collaboration gives young horses and riders a chance to develop

The vision of the Lövsta Future Challenge is to promote and develop Swedish equestrian sports by creating a broader base of Grand Prix horses and riders in jumping and dressage.

The collaboration between Gothenburg Horse Show and Lövsta Future Challenge aligns perfectly with their shared goal of developing Swedish equestrian sport by giving young talents — both horses and riders — the right conditions to progress toward international Grand Prix in both show jumping and dressage.

Lövsta Future Challenge Jumping U25

Lövsta Future Challenge gives Sweden’s best and most promising riders under 25 the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the big arenas. Riders earn points at selected qualifying competitions in classes from 1.45 m and upwards, and the two highest-ranked combinations after the qualifiers receive an invitation to the final round, which takes place during the Gothenburg Horse Show.

In addition to these two combinations, the show jumping national team management, together with Lövsta Future Challenge and Gothenburg Horse Show, can select up to three additional combinations for the final in Scandinavium. During the competitions in Scandinavium, U25 riders can earn points in all 1.45 m classes and higher, and the rider with the most points will receive the meeting prize on Sunday. Spectators can recognize LFC riders by their green armband.

Lövsta Future Challenge Jumping Young Horses

During the Gothenburg Horse Show, Sweden’s best 7-year-olds face international competition in the same age class. Over three final rounds, we get to see the stars of the future test their skills in front of a packed Scandinavium.

The format, designed to inspire riders and horse owners to continue pursuing an international career, is a true experience for the entire team around the young horse. In addition, the fantastic atmosphere in Scandinavium helps give the horses the experience needed to succeed on the major international show jumping arenas.

The Swedish combinations that qualify for the final do so via the Young Star Masters and Breeders Trophy. In total, 11 Swedish-owned horses qualify for the final of the Lövsta Future Challenge Jumping Young Horses.

Lövsta Future Challenge International Dressage Tour

Through a unique collaboration between Lövsta Future Challenge and the World Cup organizers Gothenburg Horse Show, Jumping Amsterdam, and World Cup Herning, the new Lövsta Future Challenge International Tour was launched, aimed at dressage U25 riders. The concept provides U25 riders with the opportunity to compete in the international arenas where FEI World Cup Dressage qualifiers are also held.

Breeders are invited

Lövsta Future Challenge is committed to supporting Swedish breeding and has therefore, together with Gothenburg Horse Show, invited the breeders of all Swedish-bred horses to watch the final from the best seats. Through this initiative, the aim is to motivate breeders to continue contributing to the future of Swedish show jumping.
